If you are planning to travel to another location you may want to do some investigating to find out if the area is a particularly rainy weather climate. Even if you know it is not it still will be worth it to check the weather forecast for abnormalities especially if you come from a warm weather or dry climate city. People coming from these areas frequently forget what it’s like to experience cold wet weather and find themselves missing what they really need, a good waterproof coat and or a quality waterproof fabric spray.

The importance of taking these steps at the onset of your trip cannot be emphasized enough. When you are not accustomed to the location you are traveling to then the air you breathe is more able to make you sick in the first place. Being unprepared, by not staying dry or warm, will only make the problem worse. It’s more than worth the extra time and money to simply prepare for your travels by picking up the necessities if you don’t have them in your normal wardrobe.

Luckily preparing for cold wet climates is not that difficult or expensive even if you have nothing in your wardrobe already. Sure you could pay a bit more by going to specialty stores and buying waterproof clothes but simply picking up a good umbrella and a water resistant jacket is really all you need unless you will be out in the rain a lot. To keep costs even lower a quality spray like scotch guard applied to your current wardrobe will generally do the job nicely.

Scotch guard is actually one of the cheapest and simple travel preparedness ideas you can come up with and it is appropriate for all kinds of traveling. If you are traveling to a wet climate you will want this applied to your clothes, if you are going camping you will want this applied to your tent and sleeping bags. Traveling unprepared for the changing weather is simply a recipe for sickness and a spoiled trip. It doesn’t take long and it doesn’t cost much so make sure your travel plans aren’t ruined then next time you head out.
