Living Without A Computer Mouse
We take computer mice for granted now, but it wasn’t all that long ago when computers came without mice. In this article we’ll explore how we’ve come to the stage where we rely on the computer mouse and how would computing look like if we didn’t have computer mice to rely on. In fact, a lot of us can’t imagine having a computer without a mouse and especially an optical wireless computer mouse like the Logitech cordless optical mouse.
In fact, Logitech is renowned for their computer peripheral products and their contribution to the development of the technology used to operate computer mice. No longer is an older mouse like the Logitech RX300 in demand, in many ways because Logitech has brought the technology to such a high level in recent years.
A computer mouse makes all of our computing tasks much easier and quicker. In fact, for some of the computing software out there, a mouse is practically mandatory. Many drafting programs and art programs require a mouse to be used properly and efficiently. So no wonder it is hard for us to appreciate how difficult it must be to use a computer without a mouse. But it can be done, and in fact it was done.
Just a couple of decades ago it wasn’t common to receive a computer mouse with you computer. That’s where those older operating programs were used. Using DOS commands to do many of the things that the computer mouse helps us to do so much easier now. And of course, using the keyboard arrows to move the cursor around.
Many of the keyboard shortcuts that we have come to use and rely on were developed during those early days when we didn’t have computer mice to rely on to make our computing tasks that much easier. So the next time you are using your mouse to fly around your computer screen, maybe take a moment to reflect on this hard working technological and mechanical rodent that has made computing such a much more enjoyable task to do for all of us non-techies. How far computers and their peripherals have come in such a short time.
