On Protecting an Outdoor Security Camera

Date: 9 Apr 2011 Comments: 0

Most present day security cameras rely on digital technology. Most are waterproof. Many have become incorporated into a larger surveillance system. Some have high intensity IR illuminators, for better performance after the sun goes down. However, no outdoor security camera can furnish many useful pictures, if it has been damaged by flames and smoke.

For that reason the homeowner or business owner who decides to invest in a surveillance system should set aside some money for the purchase of fireproof containers. Consumers can find an amazing variety among the offerings that help to prevent the sort of damage that can take place during a fire. While each of those containers has been made using a metal, it does not always rely on the presence of the same sort of metal.

One top quality box has been fashioned from cobalt. It has a digital combination lock mechanism. That keeps the enclosed camera safe from burglars, as well as flames. The same box features a sturdy construction and comes with a 5 year warranty.

A second container has layers on its sides, top and bottom. Those layers hold sheets of steel, with fire retardant squeezed in between. This product promises the ability to guard against smoke damage.

The third possibility carries the AXIS label. The owner of this unit must count on the safe nature of its special housing. That housing has been covered with a white finish. An integrated sunshield has been made a part of the white metal that houses the sensitive camera.

Each of those metal products can keep a cameras valuable contents safe, as flames swirl about the surveyed region of a private lot or commercial establishment. Each of them insures a smooth functioning for the piece of photographic equipment that has been boxed inside of it. At the same time, it does not obstruct the view, as seen through the cameras lens.
