Keystone correction is one of the functions that is frequent used to compare the quality of one model of HD projector to another.  But what actually is keystone correction, or keystoning as it is also sometimes referred to.

Often, due to the physical constraints of the room in which you are setting up your home cinema the projector cannot be located in a place that projects the image into the dead centre of the screen.  If this is the case the image will suffer distortion.

The HD projector keystone correction is design to either automatically or manually on some models correct this image so that there is no discernable impact on your viewing experience.  There is still some peripheral distortion but nowadays it is so slight as to be almost not noticeable.
