The town of Newry in Northern Ireland is a fairly tiny place but in spite of this there’s plenty to do, it can be tricky to pack all of it into your trip. I know any time you arrive in any new city for the first time it could be a little bit scary nevertheless I thought I'd write down several of the best activities while you're there.

Costs are usually a factor for almost any activity I intend on trying in a new city since keeping costs down is usually a priority. On the list of most economical things to do is exploring the two large shopping centres in the middle of the town which are the Quays and also Buttercrane which have plentiful car parking. I know that shopping is often associated with wasting cash but there are a lot of inexpensive cafes and knick-knack stores plus there’s always window shopping too.

A favourite hobby of mine is go-karting and Newry has an outstanding track on the outside of the town that provides inexpensive rates for both children and adults. You can buy an hour on the race track for under $50 dollars which I feel really is great value plus racing around this commercial track is a real buzz. Regardless if you’re in no way into racing they have a cafe and viewing section so you can just relax and watch.

Following a very long afternoon there’s nothing as good as a drink inside a old fashioned Irish public house and just one of my favourites is Bellinis which is situated in the actual center of Newry. One important thing I enjoy about the pub is the fact that the locals go here to hang out also and it’s not only other travellers that you’re going to meet. I’ve always believed that getting to know local people is key for an enjoyable journey just about anywhere since it's the answer to getting a true flavour of the local culture.
