Divorce education for the adults is mandatory in the State of Utah before you can have your divorce finalized. The Utah State courts have recently offered a new counseling program for children whose parents are going through a divorce.
This program is voluntary, but children are encouraged to attend. Parents and children that have gone through these classes have given feedback that the program has been helpful to them.
These Utah divorce education classes are about two hours long. Mental health professionals teach children about the divorce process, help them to identify feelings, and help the children develop skills to communicate their feelings.
