Is Canon Printer Ink Cartridge Better Than Remanufactured Inks?

April 28th, 2010

Everyone who has ever owned a printer knows that there is a time when pages coming out of their printer start to fade and the service lamp labelled ‘Out of ink’ lits up. This is when you start looking for replacement cartridges and realize that it is not as easy as you thought it would be.

There are several ink manufacturers trying to cut their share of the market, but for your Canon printer an original Canon printer ink cartridge is not always the best choice despite of the popular view on remanufactured products. When you start out looking for some ink cartridges you notice that there are different makers and there is Canon, with its vast amount of experience and time spent on the market, you naturally gravitate towards the latter and eventually purchase what they recommend.

Canon inks come from couple dozens of years of research, Canon itself pushes campaigns to make you think that they are the cheapest solution too. This is not always the case, but on the long run and during the warranty period it may as well be. With warranty on the unit you should use factory inks, just in case something goes wrong. Canon will step up and take responsibility and fix your printer while they would most probably not if they were able to prove that it stopped functioning due to remanufactured inks.

On the other hand when the warranty period is over, you are free to use whatever product you think fits your printer best and that may not always be what Canon makes. There are manufacturers on the market who has been making their inks for several years. By producing low quality, incompatible cartridges they would not be able to stay in market for that long, and it by itself is a thing that can give you a peace of mind.

The manufacturers in question do everything they can to keep down their costs and make good quality products in the same time, this is the only way they can ensure that once you have chosen their replacement cartridges, you will come back. The intention is there, but they lack the more than thirty years of experience Canon has, and this may lead to some accidents. The last few prints may look differently, or the colors can get darker, lighter, or the text simply smudges. It can stick in the pistons, and while this does not happen too often, there will be no one to take responsibility for your loss when it does.

Are A3 Printers Cheap?

February 15th, 2010

If you are wondering whether A3 printers are cheaper than A4 printers with the same printing speed, resolution, and color quality, then the answer is “no”. They are definitely a lot more expensive than A4 printers are. However, if we are to remove the A4 printers from the equation, then we will have to explore other criteria to determine whether a certain A3 printer is cheap or not.

A3 Printers Before
Before, A3 printers were not as available commercially as they are today. Homes never had much use for them since most printing requirements at home came in Letter or Legal sizes. Most customers for A3 printers came from the industrial market. Because of this, manufacturers sold them at a higher price since they needed to sell them for a profit. They were sold at higher prices because the demand for such printers was low.

A3 Printers Now
The demand for printing in A3 sizes ramped up in the last decade. Whether it is for printing brochures, newsletters or posters, the use of A3 printers is commonplace in today’s society. This is primarily the reason why the prices of A3 printers are able to go as low as a few hundred dollars. This doesn’t mean though that all prices are in this range. There are still high end models, those especially made for publishing materials, which are expensive, ranging from a few thousand dollars to tens of thousands.

Then again, the idea of cheap is relative to the product. In order to call a certain product cheap, there need to be other products that offer the same features at a higher cost. Aside from comparing them to other products, you should also see if the features or benefits they offer outweigh the cost.

Printing Features
When it comes to printers, price is often associated with its printing speed — the higher the speed it has, the more expensive it is. Printers with a minimum speed of 30ppm normally sells in the thousands range. Take for example the Phaser 7500 from Xerox. Its speed is 35ppm and its starting price is at $3000. In terms of resolution, it only has 1200 x 1200 dpi, which is typically a standard resolution for most printers today. The HP PhotoSmart Pro B8850, on the other hand, has four times the resolution but operates at 28ppm and it sells for a much lower price of $700. Aside from speed, the price of printers is also directly related to their printing quality, sometimes referred to as printing resolutions.

Different Brands
There are times when the brand has a lot more to do with the price than their features. Normally, top printer companies will have the convenience of setting them at higher prices and still manage to sell them because they have experience and brand recognition on their side. Because of their many years in the business, their credibility is secure. In order to get into the market, some printer companies are willing to offer the same quality products at lower costs, which make their printers cheaper.

So, to answer the question, “are A3 printers cheap?” The answer depends on the printer. If a printer has all the features that would normally make it an expensive printer, then it is safe to say that it is cheap — cheap for that kind of printer, that is.

How do I get a free laptop?

So you want to get a free laptop do you? Great! That means you’re just like the other hundreds of thousands of people in this country who are doing their very best right now to find out how to make this possible. Getting a free laptop is actually a doable thing if you know what to look for, and choose the way to do it properly. There are plenty of ways to get ripped off in the pursuit of free laptops, so be careful.

Probably the easiest way to make this happen is to enter raffles and contests. Yes, you heard me. I know that it’ll make most readers groan, but if you want to minimize your risk while doing this. Most people don’t want to do this though, so let’s move on to the next way to get free stuff: Participate in trial offers. This is a bit riskier way to get free stuff, but the gist of it is this: Each trial offer for products and/or services you sign up for, you get a certain amount of points. Build up the amount of points to the target number, and well, you get a free gift out of it. You’ll know exactly what it will be before you go ahead and do the series of offers, so don’t worry about that. There is a kicker though: You have to be very organized if you do something like this. If you lose track of the trial offers you signed up for and allow your credit card to be billed on recurring charges, the whole benefit of this method is ruined. You have to be good about canceling these trials before that month is up!

So, those are just two of the ways to get a free laptop or other type of electronic device. There are plenty more where that came from so do a little research on your own; there are opportunities galore out there!

There are many free DVD creating software programs available on the market today that it can make your head spin. the key word is free because in this economy we need to save every penny. When you want to create some DVD’s for file backup or even entertainment, I would look for free software whenever possible. When it comes time to take files from your computer and arrange them on a DVD capable of playing back on your computer, you simply need DVD creating software.

It’s important to select a program that will play back on your computer, DVD player and home theater. You will want to navigate these items easily so select a DVD creating software that allows custom audio track, subtitles and a menu for easy navigation. Most programs will work just fine but I would burn a DVD and test it on your DVD player first.

Your selection should include a software program that supports multiple file formats and multiple video codecs. A codec simply means compress/decompress and applies to video. You want an easy to use interface and be careful because some shady manufacturers will install adware or spyware to their DVD programs. Nothing makes me more angry than adware on these applications. Most manufacturers will not even tell you.
