An Effective Insomnia Treatment
Nothing is worse than not being able to sleep. Fortunately there is an insomnia treatment that can help. One thing that you can check is to see if you have food allergies. Gluten intolerance can cause insomnia . By eliminating gluten from the diet, you can see if this is a cure for insomnia.
Another thing is to check your hormone levels. An overactive and underactive thyroid can also cause insomnia problems too. A simple blood test will tell you if your thyroid is normal. If not, there are medications you can go on to bring your thyroid back into the normal range.
Another thing is avoid are cigarettes, drinking alcohol and caffeine. Caffeine and smoking are stimulants that can keep you awake at night. Alcohol is a depressant, but it can also affect your sleep cycle. Don't exercise too late at night as that also tends to stimulate the body and could keep you up as a result.
Sleep deprivation is a big problem that has caused many car accidents over the years. Also not being able to function properly at work can result in loss of jobs and productivity. Costs to the economy has been in the billions of dollars. Risks of illnesses like heart disease can actually double because of lack of sleep.
Many people use sleep aids such as medicine to help them sleep at night. Melatonin, which is a hormone that naturally occurs in the body, helps maintain your sleep cycle. It is also an OTC supplement that you can take to help your insomnia, although it doesn't work for everyone. If you take prescription sleeping pills, you have to be careful of the side effects and becoming dependent on them.
Although there is no one insomnia treatment that will work for everyone, there are effective ones that do work. You will have to try them and see which one gives you the best results.
